The (I really don’t like the The) Consumerist thinks it’s absurd that there’s an entire magazine devoted to short hairstyles called Short Hair. I would agree if I didn’t know that finding an example of a hairstyle that’s above the shoulders (that’s what short hair is considered in this context, by the way, not cropped) is next to impossible. Stars, models and attractive women in magazines don’t have short hair. What is more strange is that there is an entire publishing niche based on women wanting photos to bring to hairstylists. These are just a few UK ones.

I’ve always found that crying with someone - say, my mother, or my closest friend - works best for me, but crying alone will get the job done as well. Once you’ve let it all out (and it may take a few days of crying, on and off) you’ll feel a hundred times better than you did before. Crying is the body’s way of getting rid of the toxins that build up in your body during times of stress. Don’t ever be ashamed to cry, as you won’t be doing your body any favours by putting on a brave face.

Haircuts inducing tears is universal it seems. Green apples and rabbits? Much less so.

“I know everyone’s like it’s just hair, it’s going to grow but it’s way more symbolic. Because I give away so much of myself every day, my hair is the only thing I can hold on to. People who don’t have long hair don’t get it. It’s hard for me to cut it.”

“When I was little I always would hide who I really was, and that was a girl with no money who was living off food stamps…and I never felt as ugly as till today. I have to hide my hair to feel pretty.”
